The Effects of the garlic and seaweed on the lipid metabolism


Abstract
Effects of the gallic and seaweed on lipid metabolism were evaluated by measuring cholesterol and triglyceride contents in the serum and liver of the rabbits given a standard diets containing 2% of each.
1) A decrease in serum total cholesterol level was noted in either group of animals given gallic or seaweed.
2) The serum triglyceride contents were lowered in both groups of animals, the lowering effect being more marked in seaweed-fed group.
3) The liver cholesterol and triglyceride contents were decreased in both groups
of animals given gallic and seaweed, particularly so in the triglycerides of seaweed-fed group.
